Some reasons why you need OT in your School
Some obvious and some not so obvious
The number one issue is the overwhelming caseload vs available NHS Occupational Therapists. When you factor in the rapid growth of their caseload with new cases, it becomes clear that it is a problem without resolve.
Our private best practice OT methodology is not constrained by bureaucracy. Our therapists are able to to be more creative and flexible in their approach to addressing children’s needs, providing more effective OT.
Average class sizes are 26.6 pupils with each class having on average 1 child with an EHCP. However, each class has 3.5 children on average with neurological conditions leaving classes with an under-provision in real terms .
EHCP’s are binding legal documents and if OT is listed under Section F then the responsibility falls on LA’s or Schools to deliver. This puts intense pressure on SENDCO’s especially. We can release the pressure and deliver results.
